Brewers & The Affordable Care Act


Is your brewery subject to the employer mandate provisions of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA)?

To determine whether your brewery will be subject to new laws taking affect under the PPACA, you first need to determine how many full-time and full-time equivalent employees you have. According to the law, a full-time employee is a person who works at least 30 hours per week.

If you have at total of 50 full-time, or full-time equivalent, employees, then you will be subject to the employer mandate provisions of the Affordable Care Act. According to the law, however, your first 30 full-time employees are exempt from the fines and rules of the employer mandate provision.
