Michigan’s craft brew scene has another feather to add to its cap – it topped a list of craft beer high growth states in a report released by a California investment bank. As reported by Mlive, Michigan along with Pennsylvania, New York, North Carolina, and Texas made up 30% of the 2011 craft beer growth according to the report. The Beer Tax Wars
A fight is brewing in Washington over two beer-specific pieces of legislation. According to MSN Money, the debate is brewing over the Brewers Employment and Excise Relief (BEER) Act and the Small Brewer Reinvestment and Expanding Workforce (BREW) Act. Conditional Liquor Licenses
House Bill 4277, which allows for conditional liquor licenses, passed in the House. As reported by MLive, the conditional licenses would last for one year or until the Liquor Control Commission makes a decision on an application, whichever comes first. It could also be used when transferring ownership thus allowing the new owner of a bar or liquor store to continue to sell while new licenses are being reviewed. For all of the details, read:
